In the European Commission we want to hear your suggestions for a name for the European Voluntary Humanitarian Aid Corps that we are currently setting up. The Corps is currently referred to as 'EVHAC' but let's be frank, this abbreviation sounds more like a cough-medicine or an aggressive viral infection than an exciting new programme allowing Europeans to volunteer in humanitarian operations!

During this online forum we would like to hear from you: Let us know what you think about this new programme and give us your ideas on what it should be called. All your proposals will enter the discussion on our forum. Participants can then rate proposals and comment. A high-level jury chaired by Commissioner Georgieva will choose the final name based on the results of this forum and the person with the winning proposal will be invited to Brussels to attend a launch ceremony.

Given the success of the forum with already over 150 names proposed, we have decided to allow additional time to vote after the name forum closes on 18 May: Until 31 May you can continue to discuss the proposed names and, most importantly, vote on the proposed options. But no new names can be added after 18 May - so hurry up to propose your ideas! In order to en sure that the finalists are of high quality, only names that have received until 18 May an average of more than 2.0 out of 5 stars will enter the final voting period until 31 May. So it is a good idea to share your ideas with your networks and friends if you wish to stay in the race for the final vote.

Voting on the forum is now closed. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all your contributions and creative thinking! The Commission will now consider the results of the comments and voting internally. We have also asked communication experts to assess the best names according to our criterai and according to good practice in branding. We will announce the results on this forum and via Email to all participants - so stay tuned!
